TEXT ART

Text is an area I have been playing with in my work—phrases that come into my head, feelings, things people tell me, and words that may or may not make sense. I am interested in both the poetry and the graphic quality of words: how they look, repeat, interrupt, and layer meaning.

This began with victim/perpetrator language that emerged through ancestor and constellation work I was practicing and studying. From there, it evolved into a survivor/survive series, first appearing beneath a painting and then on the back of another. I am continuing to explore text through painting, monotype, and poster printing—following the words and seeing where they want to go.
