The Record Paintings
The record paintings began in play. While working on larger paintings, I wanted something smaller to move between, something I could hold and turn in my hands. The circle offered another way into painting, another relationship between the surface and my body. Records were accessible and carried memory, music, longing, and nostalgia in their grooves. I am drawn to their texture and dimensionality, their intimacy and their bodily scale. Like all of my practices, this one is still evolving, revealing itself through the making.
